Welcome to the Royal Texans Blog

The Royal Texans blog is all about our family and the people we love. It's a little crazy being a Mommy of two lil' guys, but I eventually post everything so check back often for updates on Oliver and Miles!

Miles' Birthday Play Mat

After seeing an awesome play mat at Robynn's for a couple of years now, I have wanted to make my boys a play mat like the one the Thiot kids and Bill had when they were kids.  Tatia made a darling one for Penny's second birthday and I knew I wanted to make one for Miles birthday.  Robynn was so nice to let me borrow the patterns and I added a few buildings that were unique to us.  Well, it definitely turned out to be a huge labor of love and a lot bigger project than I anticipated.  However, it was so fun personalizing the mat and putting in some of the buildings they love.   In the end, I am so happy with the way it turned out and the boys LOVE playing with it. It took me a while after Miles birthday to actually complete the coloring since we were on vacation for a couple of weeks.  The boys would run out every morning while I was coloring it to see what I had finished the night before.  They have had it for a day now and they have played with it all day.  That makes me so happy!  I think the thing that I love most about the mat, is that it is like a little snapshot in time as to the life of my boys:  where we grocery shop, their favorite restaurant, their favorite gas station, their schools, favorite buildings, etc.
