Welcome to the Royal Texans Blog

The Royal Texans blog is all about our family and the people we love. It's a little crazy being a Mommy of two lil' guys, but I eventually post everything so check back often for updates on Oliver and Miles!

Oliver's monthly photo shoot

Oliver turned forty-five months today and of course we had to take pictures for our refrigerator magnets. He really didn't want to cooperate, but I finally got him when I bribed my lil' chocolate monster with M&M's.

Where did the last two weeks go?

The last two weeks have flown by and as a result, I haven't posted any pictures. Lack of sleep is catching up with me, so when both my boys are sleeping, I want to sleep too. Otherwise, I am spending much needed one on one time with either of my boys. Oliver is still loving being a big brother as you'll see in the pictures below. He loves to hug, kiss, and sing to baby Miles. Every time I pass Oliver while I am holding Miles I have to lean down so he can kiss him...it's so cute! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the last two weeks.

Oliver loves holding Miles on the pillow I use to nurse Miles

Since Miles wasn't up to his birth weight at his two weeks check up, his doctor suggested we start supplementing with formula. Miles took a bottle beautifully, and now drinks about two ounces of formula, three to four times daily. He hasn't been weighed lately, but he seems chunkier, so I think he is gaining weight now.

Miles has a strong sucking reflex and will suck his thumb if he can find it

Oliver loves it when I take pictures of Miles sleeping, I promised him I take pictures of him sleeping too!

I might have been wrong...

One picture is of Oliver at 20 days old, and the other is of Miles at 18 days old. I almost can't tell the difference!

Tummy Time Begins

In our family, tummy time begins at two weeks.

Here is Oliver showing Miles how it is done

Miles preferred to just lay there and eat his hand

Miles caught on and went from side to side a few times. Go Miles!

Happy Independence Day 2010

These pictures were actually taken on Monday, July 5th so they double as Miles two-weeks old pictures and Independence Day pictures. We didn't do anything for the fourth this year, seeking solace from the rain/heat/humidity in our own home; even though it was a little disappointing, it was best with a new baby. And after all, Oliver is a great entertainer!

sad baby Miles. Is it bad that I want to capture photos like these?

Miles was ready for a couple more pictures after we gave him a pacifier. So here are my two my boys

brotherly love

Oliver entertaining us by running around the family room yelling "Happy Independence Day" like 500 times. No, I'm not exaggerating. I actually have video, but I'm opting not to post given the uncleanly status of my family room. I'm too embarrassed! :)

Hope everyone had a great fourth of July!

P.S. Miles had his two weeks appointment and he still hasn't reached his birth weight. He weighs 7 lbs. 14.8 oz, so we are going back for another weight check next week. On the bright side, he is now 21 1/2 inches long so he grew two inches. Grow Miles!

Oliver & Miles' new swing set

Oliver and Miles are the proud owners of their very own swing set. Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Royal! Oliver loves it and I'm certain Miles will love it when he is big enough! And a big thanks to Grandma Royal for staying the week to help us get adjusted to life with a family of four! We really appreciate you!

Miles' first trip to the park

Here is how Miles rolled to the park. It was HOT and he preferred motion as to sitting still in the stroller so he and I took our first walk around the park while Daddy, Oliver, Grandma and Grandpa stayed at the play ground.

Oliver's favorite park-tivity

You seriously couldn't push him high enough! By the way, don't you just love the matching hats?
