Welcome to the Royal Texans Blog

The Royal Texans blog is all about our family and the people we love. It's a little crazy being a Mommy of two lil' guys, but I eventually post everything so check back often for updates on Oliver and Miles!

Miles on the boppy

Oliver can't resist Miles down on the floor. I have to actually distract him with something else so I can take a picture of Miles' face. :) I love it! :)

Bunny & Piggy's Cafe and Cooking Show

Oliver & Clayton have a standing game they play every weekend morning called Bunny & Piggy's Cafe and Cooking show. This has been going on since Oliver first started speaking. It started out with Tigger, but morphed to Oliver's favorite stuffed animals over the years. On the show, they cook a variety of things such as casseroles, pumpkin muffins, cakes, vegetables, almost anything we have had recently. They often have guest hosts like garbage men, or airline pilots whom Oliver happily boops himself into character. They have commercials for American Airlines and they even have a studio audience consisting of me and most recently Miles. I am sure I have captured it on video before, but never have I added it to the blog. It is so cute, I just had to share.

This is a video of the introduction

Here is Oliver with Bunny & Piggy -- His loveys

Miles and Oliver hanging out in the crib

I guess they aren't exactly hanging out together in this one. Oliver was sleeping when I went in to get him and I thought it would be cute to lay Miles down next to him. Miles almost got rolled on when the camera flashed and Oliver woke up. Don't worry though, he was okay! :)

Miles' weight check

July 27, 2010

I took Miles to the hospital where he was born for a weight check today. At three weeks, he still wasn't up to birth weight. At five weeks, he weighed in at 9 lbs. 3 oz., so he gained 18 ounces is two weeks. We are very pleased with his weight gain and will continue to both breast feed and supplement with formula whenever he doesn't seem satisfied. When we arrived home, I placed him in his crib while I washed Oliver up for lunch. When I went in to get him, he seemed very content checking out his bedroom.

Here is a video of Oliver and I talking to Miles

On another note, I thought I should finally post some pictures of his room since it is almost done. His furniture is Espresso (really dark brown) and his bedding is blue and brown and the theme is stars.

I have curtains to hang, but I keep buying the wrong curtain rod. Someday they will be hung.

Mommy & me

I had Clayton snap a few pictures of us since my make-up was actually done this day. I think these ones turned out really well.

Oliver's monthly photo shoot

Oliver turned forty-five months today and of course we had to take pictures for our refrigerator magnets. He really didn't want to cooperate, but I finally got him when I bribed my lil' chocolate monster with M&M's.

Where did the last two weeks go?

The last two weeks have flown by and as a result, I haven't posted any pictures. Lack of sleep is catching up with me, so when both my boys are sleeping, I want to sleep too. Otherwise, I am spending much needed one on one time with either of my boys. Oliver is still loving being a big brother as you'll see in the pictures below. He loves to hug, kiss, and sing to baby Miles. Every time I pass Oliver while I am holding Miles I have to lean down so he can kiss him...it's so cute! Here are some of my favorite pictures from the last two weeks.

Oliver loves holding Miles on the pillow I use to nurse Miles

Since Miles wasn't up to his birth weight at his two weeks check up, his doctor suggested we start supplementing with formula. Miles took a bottle beautifully, and now drinks about two ounces of formula, three to four times daily. He hasn't been weighed lately, but he seems chunkier, so I think he is gaining weight now.

Miles has a strong sucking reflex and will suck his thumb if he can find it

Oliver loves it when I take pictures of Miles sleeping, I promised him I take pictures of him sleeping too!

I might have been wrong...

One picture is of Oliver at 20 days old, and the other is of Miles at 18 days old. I almost can't tell the difference!

Tummy Time Begins

In our family, tummy time begins at two weeks.

Here is Oliver showing Miles how it is done

Miles preferred to just lay there and eat his hand

Miles caught on and went from side to side a few times. Go Miles!
